[Opinions] Re: Omar
I sort of disagree. Nothing wrong with Omar or Javier for a white American, though a white American named "Chang" or "Jose" may come across as weird.

Even on the namepage, one of the famous Omars listed is a white American (Omar Bradley? he was named after some other American named Omar Gray who I'm guessing was also white); it's not really a new name in English though used to be rarer. Out of curiosity, does Layla similarly seem out of place to you for white Americans? I feel like they're both cross cultural. What difference do you perceive between Javier or Jose? Honest question, because they both just seem like typical Spanish J names to me.

I'm sorry!
...?It's fine to say on the Opinions board that you imagine Omar as a Muslim POC and struggle to imagine otherwise (sounded like that's what you meant?); a lot of name opinions are based on stereotypes, which is part of what makes responses interesting. People giving reasons for disagreeing and asking questions about the stereotypes isn't an accusation.
