I dont really care for either. I dont like Clara at all. I think I really love Clare, but I just cant use it as a fn. I really loathe the added "i" in Claire. Its trendy, and I like names to be spelled how they sound. There is no i in the pn. (I have the same problem with Shawn being spelled Sean and many others.)
I would stick with Clare (or if you must, Claire). I am horrible at girl combos, but my only suggestion would be a little longer mn. I like "unbalanced" names where one is short and the other is longer (short fn, longer mn, and vice versa).
