Actually I don't think of the Simpsons when I think of Selma I think of the actress Selma Hyack( I don't know if thats how her last name is spelled oh well) Anyways. I like the name Selma I think its very pretty. Veronica is a nice name as well.

Try Salma Hayek.

I hate both of those names although I dislike Selma more. Selma sounds like an old woman and Veronica is just blah to me.

If you can't decide. :]
LOOOVE Veronica, dislike Vera. I like the nn Vicky or Nikki.

I really like both, and Vera is my favourite NN for Veronica.
I don't connect Selma to the Simpsons at all, being Swedish my first association is to Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf.
I would probably choose a long (three or for syllables) name as MN for Veronica, I can't think right now of any short ones I think sound good in combination.
Selma is more open.
Example to what I mean is, Selma Veronica is ok, but I don't think Veronica Selma sounds good.

I'm have always been in love with Veronica nn Vera!I think it's better than Veronica "vero" or "roni", I have been also thinking about the same thing: Veronica "Vera". I love it. What do you think about it's french form, Veronique?

Both are on my list. :-DVeronica - I have a love-hate relationship with this naeme. On one hand, I love it, on the other I find it snooty and cold. Overall, it's lovely. Vera is a cool nickname, though I prefer the name on its own. NNs - Ronnie and V are the only ones I think of.Selma - This I love. It's very pretty, it's weighted, great namesakes. I'd also use it.

Middle namesVeronica Ivy, Veronica Linnet, Veronica Rosalie, Veronica Fern - fairly easy to match, I think. Veronica Katherine is also lovely. As for Selma: I'm not sure. This is a bit harder to match. I can't think of any1

One-syllable ones, I think.
Selma Jane
Selma Fay (e)
Selma Quinn
Selma Rae
or, at least, something not ending in an "a".

Veronica is ok. Selma is really nice. I also like Sela. I know that The Simpsons is an iconic piece of pop culture, but I don't think the generation of babies being born now will have as strong an association to the show as we do, especially since I think this character isn't a main character of the show. (I don't really watch the show too often, but have never heard of her...)

I love Selma and I think the Simpsons did that name wrong naming an nasty old hag that name LOL. Salma (similar to Selma)Hayek is gorgeous though. ;)Veronica is NMS although I love Vera & Verity.

I dislike the name Veronica, but I love Vera.Selma isn't my style, but I wouldn't mind seeing it on someone else's child.Edit - I hadn't make the Selma/Simpsons connection. I don't watch the show though.
