Interesting reading everyone's responses. I like the name because it was the name of F. Scott Fitzgerald's wife. And reportedly Zelda Fitgerald was the first "flapper". Being a fan of his work and the 20s in general, is what drew me to this name.

I think it's kind of cute, though I'm not a huge fan of "Z" names in general (not sure why). I'd never use it, but it's cute and quirky imo. It's grown on me since I found out Robin Williams has a daughter named Zelda (she's 15 now, and also an actress). Then there's Zelda Rubenstein--I think that's her name--the little lady from Poltergeist (sp?). But she's a bit creepy. lol

You're going to think I'm strange, but for four years in college, this was my nn (in one group of friends.) It's a long story, but suffice it to say, it stuck. I didn't mind, really. It came across as a term of endearment. The second thing I think of is Zelda FitGerald and roaring 20's flappers. I think it was considered an exotic name back then, like Theda Bara or Pola Negri (silent film stars.) Seen in this light, it has a retro-charm about it that I like. Not the easiest name to carry off, but it has potential.

I like it, spunky and underused.A question for you, do you pronounce your name LOR-ee or LAHR-ee?

pronunciationI don't pronounce it "Lahr-ee", but friends and family pronounce it both Lore-ee and Lawr-ee. Good friends just call me Lau (Law).

Well Lahr-ee and Lawr-ee sound basically the same. My sister is named Laurie and pronounces it that way, but nearly everyone mispronounces it as LOR-ee.

I think of a sorceress when I think of the name. I think it's great for a character or something, but it's nrms."A guilty conscience needs to confess. A work of art is a confession."- Albert Camus

There are a few Zelda in my family, born during the 19th century. I like it, but it's not really my style.

I like the nn Zel for Zelda, and Zelda itself is cute, though I don't know if I'll ever get rid of the association with Sabrina the Teenage Witch's aunt.

It reminds me of that game and also of the t.v. show Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. It sounds very "fantasy" if you know what I mean. Like mystical or something. :)

I think of the video game that was popular oh so many years ago.
