Bernadette
What do you think of this name? Could you ever use it? Is it too big and old for a child of this generation? What would be some cute nick names?Bernadette Theresa Loreen (this would be the combo, named after family and friends)

I think it's very sweet, recognizable but not overused, and would be cute on a child but would grow into adulthood well. Bernie is an obvious nn, but I don't care for it much. You might be able to get away with Beri ("berry"), Nadine, Nadia, Addie, Ada, Ettie, or Etta. In the movie "Circle of Friends" I believe Bernadette was Minnie Driver's character's name was Bernadette and she went by Bennie. That's very cute too. :b

I love Bernadette and Theresa (Teresa is my confirmation name!), but I prefer Lauren to Loreen. However, if you're honoring someone with the name, then use it. It's great. It may be too big at first but she'll grow into it, and she can always use nicknames as a kid and go by her full name as an adult. I don't really like Bernie, but Etta is cute. Besides, "big" names are coming back :-).

Love it. It isn't a family name for me, and I still love it. I think the nn Ettie or Etta would be nice.

I love Bernadette. It's a family name by grandmother had it my mother has it and I hope one day to use it for my little girl. I think the same as you that it might be too much that is why I plan on using it as a middle name. I love it as a first name....don't get me wrong.Never thought of nicknames for it. There is of course Bernie but I don't like that name. Just brain storming...what about:Adette
Erna - some people pn Air-na
EttieI don't think of it as a old persons name. Did you see the movie Sisters of Mary Magdalene. There was a Bernadette in that movie.Having three names is also a family tradition. If we have a little girl we plan on calling herEloise Marie Bernadette

Love it! I think its really sweet & not old at all, just under used. I like it cos it is that bit more unusal. (I think of Bernadette as being a young person not an old one.) I'm not so keen on the 3 name combo as I think that does make it abit too big, & I don't really like Theresa or Loreen. However if they are to honor people then thats great, but I'd go with one or the other.~ * ~ Evy ~ * ~

I LOVE this name! My aunt is named Bernadette with the nn Bernie so I want to use Bernadette in some way or another with my children, but it's so long for a middle name.
