Charlotte
it might be just me but this name really really bugs me.. not to mention always reminds me of that song about a harlot.. but i just really hate the sound of it, the look of it and everything about it.. especially how its becoming so common.Yesterday on the bus were 3 young sister, the youngest and prettiest of them all was absolutely adorable and when i heard her name was Charlotte i almost gagged. Her sisters names were Emily and Sophie, very plain, but much nicer and more sophisticated imo.

I adore Charlotte, I think it is gorgeous, strong, sophisticated and ageless. I would name a daughter of mine Charlotte in a heartbeat :)

What a lovely sibset!I love Charlotte, I think it is strange that you dislike it. Charlotte, Emily, and Sophie are three of my all time favorite names - feminine but not contrived, classic, ageless. I think they all sound lovely together also.

Ditto that :)I'd even consider giving these names to daughters, if I wasn't already friends with a Sophie, an Emily, and two considering using Charlotte :P

I also don't like Charlotte, which is a shame because I love the nns Charlie, Chuck, and Lottie. Especially Lottie.

It is my grandmother's name. She was named after her grandfather, Charles. She was one of four girls, so they finally gave up on having a Charles and went with Charlotte. I hope some day to have a daughter named Charlotte after her, and one named Alice after my other grandmother.

I think it's a nice sibset. I love Charlotte - it was my great grandother's name as well as my husband's great grandmother's name. It feels very romatic and Victorian to me - I don't automatically associate it with Sex and the City...

That's strange-- I have pretty much the opposite opinion! I think of Charlotte as a pretty and sophisticated name, and would put it along the lines of the Sophie and Isabella type.I don't really like any of the nicknames for it. I guess Lottie is okay, but I really don't like Charlie on a girl. Charlotte makes me think of a sweet, quiet girl with blue eyes. Strange how impressions of names differ so much.

Emily, Sophie, and Charlotte form a wonderful sibset. Charlotte is not one of my favorite names, but I still think it's a beautiful and elegant choice.

It reminds me of harlot too, and though I like it for its classic, historic feel its mass appeal escapes me. I much prefer Caroline (even Carla) as a feminine of Charles name.

I love Charlotte, there's no other name quite like it. It seems very classy and it's pretty without being over the top. I prefer it to Sophie and especially to Emily. I find more appeal in longer classic names, not sure why. I can't use Charlotte because it's the name of a family member, but otherwise it would probably rank quite highly on my list of middle names, if not first names.

I hate the name Emily it sounds too childish as well does Sophie [so I find it odd that you dislike Charlotte, lol].
Charlotte is the future name of my future girl so I love it.Scarlet rhymes with harlot as well do you dislike Scarlet [just curious].

I've always disliked the name Charlotte, although I am starting to like Charlotta. :p

I like the name Charlotte, but only for a mn, because I wouldn't want her to be called "Charlotte the harlot". I think Emily, Sophie and Charlotte make a lovely sib set. Very pretty names.

I can see why people like the name because it's classic and elegant. The problem is, it's so popular over here for newborns up to women in their 40s (and over). Sibsets of Charlotte and Emily are very common as well, maybe people are inspired by the Bronte sisters. Sophie is also very popular. I like the name Sophie, but find Emily a very boring name. And I've never associated it with the word harlot or heard anyone else say that (except people on this board).

What a lovely sibset! I'm not a fan of Emily, but the three names work so well together. Charlotte is very pretty imo.

Of all the names to hate... Charlotte? That's very odd. I love it.

I used to feel that way too. Not only could I hear 'harlot' whenever I heard or said Charlotte, it was right there in the spelling. Fortunately, I've gotten over that and now I love Charlotte. Emily, Sophie and Charlotte make a nice sibset.

I love Charlotte, though I don't know if I could ever use it. to be truthful the whole reason it grew on me was the sex and the city character, I think she's adorable.Emily is alright, but Sophie does nothing for me, I had a cat called Sophie.

I like Charlotte, but, its immensely growing popularity is a problem for me. The Charlotte the Harlot aspect doesn't bother me too much, because half the people around these days wouldn't know what a Harlot anyway! ;0p
