Kaia, Maia and Gaia
I'm starting to like Kaia (KY-ah, KAH-ya) I dislike Kaya, though (boys name in Turkey). WDYT ? Is it too trendy and WDYT of Gaia (GY-ah). Do you think people would say GAY-ah (I dislike that pronunciation) ? or do you prefer Maia and what is your favorite spelling of Maia ? Do you say MY-ah (like myself) or MAY-ah ? Do you think Kaia and Gaia will become as popular as Maia ?

I love Kaia, said Ky-ah. It's my favourite. Gaia just doesn't appeal to me, I find the sound icky. Amazing what one letter difference can mean. I got really sick of Maia/Maya when I was in Canada last year- I kid you not, every second baby we met out and about in Vancouver was named Maia. But since being back in Aus I haven't met one, so I've had a break from it and I like it again. Not as much as kaia though.I prn. them all the same way- Ky-ah, Gy-ah, My-ah. Kaia and Maia are my favourite spellings.

I like Kaia (KY-ah) and Maia/Maya (MY-ah) a lot. Both are very pretty names, but Gaia is nms.

Kaia is one of my favorite names. It may sound a bit trendy, but it is actually an old Scandinavian name.

I like Kaia and Maia. Maia sounds pretty pronounced either MY-ah or MAY-ah, but I automatically think MY-ah when I see it even though I think I prefer MAY-ah. I want to like Gaia, but GY-ah seems easy to tease as well because it has "guy" in it. I highly doubt that Gaia will become as popular as Maia and I don't think that Kaia will either, but Kaia seems much more likely to become popular than Gaia does.

I like Maia, and like you I much prefer 'MY-ah'.
I like Gaia, although I wouldn't use it myself. If people don't know how to pronounce it, well that's just stupid.
Kaia looks too trendy.

I don't like Kaia. It sounds like a trendy sort of name. Gaia is alright. I don't know why people would say GAY-uh, since Maia is a fairly well-known name, and Gaia is a name from Greek mythology. I think I prefer Maia though (that spelling). I have a friend with that name. It's pronounced MY-ah. I've never heard MAY-ah before. I don't think either would ever be as popular as Maia, but Kaia seems like it could be used more.

The problem is that GAY-ah (okay it's more like GEEEEEEEEEH-ya) is the original pronunciation and I'm all for using original pronunciations but I think people might tease her. So I decided to pronounce it to rhyme with Maya.

I like all three and pronounce each similarly, with a long "i" sound. I doubt Gaia will become as popular as Maia (although I think the Maya spelling is much more common than Maia)(I prefer the Maia spelling). Gaia has the possibility for the "gay" pronunciation, something that makes people here in the U.S. run for the hills. (**rolls eyes**) Kaia, on the other hand, does have the potential to become as popular as Maia / Maya. Not that you asked, but my favorite combinations for each one would be: Kaia Liv, Gaia Helen and Maia Celeste.

thanks :)I'm always interested in some new combos...I love all three of them! My favorite would be Gaia Helen I think...Liv Kaia might also be nice.

I love Maia (MY-ah). I go back and forth between Maia and Maya. Today I prefer Maya. Gaia is fine, though I've never been a fan. I say GUY-ah but I'm sure there will be some people who say GAY-ah (even if just to tease her).I adore Kaia (KIE-ah) but only as a nickname (for Katherine, Katharina, Katarina, etc). It's awfully cutesy as a stand-alone name.

I like Kaia and Maia. Gaia will be mispronounced incessantly, if you want it pronounced GY-ah. Gaia is from Greek mythology (married to Chaos), if I am remembering correctly. Her name is pronounced Gay-ah. I know 2 women named Gaia, and they pronounce it GAY-ah. If you don't mind the constant correcting, you should use it.

I know...that it is originally pronounced GAY-ah but I'm very worried about the "gay" part. I don't have anything against people being gay I just think she would be teased a lot.

Kaia is kind of interesting. You don't hear it a lot. It would be cute I think. Maia is starting to grow on me. I would pronouncce it MY-ah.
