I'd pronounce it Beh-reh-neece, and I think it's lovely. A short simple name might be nice with it, like Anne or Mary or Rose.

I pronounce it Bern-eece - to rhyme with geese. I actually sort of like Bernice pronounced that way, and can see it as a terrific middle name. It has that rhythm that works well as a middle name. Then I heard that some people pronounce it Bern-is - to rhyme with furnace. I hate this pronunciation, so much so that it has completely ruined the name for me.
Combos (with Bern-eece pronunciation of course)Meredith Bernice
Iliana Bernice
Lydia Bernice
Christiana Bernice

I like it pronounced BEAR-uh-nees, but if I were to use a legitamate pronunciaiton it would be Be-re-NEE-che. I thin its okay, but I lov it with my pronuncition and I would say (for the italian prn) some combo's areAlessandra Berenice
Luciana BereniceBerenice Olivine

It's pronounced bay-ray-NEEZ (kind of, it isn't really an ay sound, more of a long eeeeehh sound). I only like it spelled Bérénice. I know a girl named Bérénice ("Nici") who has an older sister named Chantal. My mom also almost named me Bérénice but even though the name is okay, I'm happy she didn't name me that.

1. My first thought is the Italian pronunciation. The English pronunciation seems odd to me.
2. It's ok. I like the history behind it.
3. Depends how brave you are. 'Berry' might be a cute nn.

Berry? That is cute. You wouldn't believe the nicknames I've come up with for my own daughter over the years, and most of them don't really even sound related to her name. Nicknames can have more to do with how you feel about your child than what matches the name.I like the "Berry" suggestion. :)

I would pronounce it BER-NEES, skipping over the middle syllable. I don't like it at all, it sounds very unattractive to me.

I like it when you pronounce it in proper Italian.ber-ah-NEE-chayTo me, any other pronunciation always sounds like an awkward distortion of Bernice, and I'm not a fan of that name. I'd have to get back to you on the middle name... I mean, if you don't like the sound of the Italian pronunciation, then you probably wouldn't like the Italian middle names I might pair it up with. ;)

AARGH!!If there is a delete button in here for messages I'd like to remove, I wish I knew where it is! Otherwise, I'll just have to wait for a mod to delete all of the repeated attempts to answer your question, or just let them sit here.I tried to answer, and the server locked up. It did this to me on around 4 attempts. When it finally went through, I had the same post up 5 times. :( I didn't mean to make a mess of your thread. I'm sorry.

LOLThank you, the site has been driving me nuts for the last week or so. When I saw all of those posts repeated I almost had a heart attack. It looked like I was having a seizure and couldn't stop posting it. HAHA
