Thank you for posting this! I am a history major and I've been learning a lot about early
America lately. It's interesting to see how the culture of the time affected the naming of children. Lots of biblical names, of course, and it was interesting to see some people who appear to be named after the heroes of the times, like LaFayette and
George, which I know is a common name but I'm sure a lot were named after
George Washington, and there are even two Washingtons which I'd bet money were named for the president. There are quite a few eccentric (to me) names on this list. I wonder if those names were considered eccentric to the people of that time...
