HelpIs finally pregnant, but...
I am actually pregnant now, yeah!
I have a bit of a problem though. I have been testing out the names I love with close family and on baby name boards, but my favorites are not receiving great feed back at all.
People say they sound too old or too out there or that my baby will hate me in the future for choosing a certain name. Normally I don't take much stock in other people's opinions, but I don't want my child to resent me, and I don't want my family to hate my child's name.
I have tried out some new ideas, but most of them have either not gone over well, or I am torn about using them because of their similarity to a popular name.
I am looking for feed back on my old favorites, and my new ideas as well as any new suggestions. I am open to anything at this point. Middle names will be family names, so at this point I only want to focus on first names. I am also just going to focus on girl names for this post. I will do another for boys.
Oh, and my son's name is Lennon Clayton, so I would like a name I love as much as his.
My list:
Sybil - long time favorite and family name. Thought NN of Liby. Everyone seems to hate this one. They say she will be picked on, and it is not a "pretty name" and Liby is a dogs name. My mom hates this name.
Eva - I think it is gorgeous and sweet. I have received good feedback, but am worried it is too similar to Ava which is very popular.
Aoife - I life in the states, I have been told no one will be able to pronounce her name on paper. It would be bad for interviews and school. Also concerned about its similarity to Ava.
Charlotte - Pretty, family name, NN Lotte. I have gotten good feedback, but I am worried about its popularity.
Audie - Bad feed back. I have been told to use Audra (which doesn't really sound good with our last name). I have also been told it is the name of a car so it sounds cheesy.
Beatrix - I don't know if I love this or not. I have gotten mixed feedback. NN Bea. I just can't picture myself calling "Lennon! Beatrix time for dinner!" I don't know.
Here are some names I have not run by anybody yet, but discussed with my DH and need some outside feed back.
Mina - DH's idea, he like the character from Dracula
Celeste (NN Celie) - I love Celie, I don't know how I feel about Celeste
Eveny - Feels like Eva, but not as close to Ava.
