Re: Hebrew girls' names
Aviva -- I should like it, but all my pea brain can process is, "Arriba! Andale! Andale!" Too many Bugs Bunny cartoons as a child. I wish I could get it out of my head. But I can't. :0(Ayelet -- I'm not sure if i'm pronouncing it correctly. Is it like eyelet lace? If so, I love the sound and the association with eyelet lace is a nice one in my head. :0)Chaya -- Eh. There could be pronunciation issues if the "ch" is a glottal "k" sound not used in English. But perhaps I'm wrong on the pronunciation. How are you saying it?Gili -- Cute.Keren -- It will be confused with Karen (= Katharine). But if that doesn't bother you, then it's still a very pretty name. Keshet -- Mesmerizing. Love it. It sounds exotic and mystical.Margalit -- Love it. :0)Michal -- Eh. Is it pronounced like the English pronunciation of Michael? Confusing. Rivka -- Love it. Tziporah -- Love it, especially with the nn Tzipi. :0) Aviva Roxane / Roxanne
