I love Shoshana, so glad someone else likes it too. Naomi is nice, though I pronounce the name as NAY-oh-me.

Beautiful!!! Very Biblical feel, but as long as that doesn't bother you, it's really nice.

I don't understand where the Nie-omi pronunciation comes from, because I've heard it Nay-omi all my life. Maybe in another language/culture but not nearly as common as Nay-omi, so I think unless you are authentically of a culture that says Nie, you are being unnecessarily complicated by insisting on Nie-omi.
Naomi is very pretty. I don't much care for Shoshana, it's a hissing mouthful. Naomi Shoshana sounds very Jewish.

It's pretty 50-50 here. Some nay-OH-mee and some nie-OH-mee. If I saw it, I wouldn't know which way to guess and then once I learned the correct way, I would probably (and embarrassingly) forget.

When I asked here how to say the name everyone said Nie and hat Nay was odd. I think it's where you're from.

I've never heard Nie-.
I think Nie-oh-me is really odd.

I'm familiar with both pronunciations. N-oh-me is common within the Jewish community, nay-oh-me outside it.

I love, love, love Shoshana. It's so shimmery and strong. A nice golden color.I'm not a fan of Naomi. It just seems greasy to me. I pronounce it nay-O-mee and it's hard to say nie-O-mee instead, though I know it's a perfectly legitimate pronunciation. The flow together is decent enough but I think Naomi's greasiness dims Shoshana's shimmer.

I think the flow of Naomi Shoshana is great and I really like Naomi, however, your pronunciation turns me off quite a bit, to be honest. Now, if that's the most common pronunciation where you live, then I say go for it. I'll add that the Shoshannah spelling looks more complete to me although it doesn't look as "light" for some reason.BTW, my fave Naomi combo is Naomi Christina (Christina after my bff who passed away). That's why I'm fond of the similar rhythm of your combo. :-)

Ha, Shoshana. That's my sister's name xDI like Naomi a lot, only I prefer it said nay-O-mee. Maybe that's because it's the only way I've heard it.
It's one of those names that are both different and familiar. It seems to change it's feeling depending on what you pair it with.

I like Shoshana, too. I like the whispery sound of it, like the wind swirling desert sand.Together they sound great, and Shoshana draws out a hidden warmth in Naomi. It's lovely.

I chose nie-O-mee because it's closer to the Hebrew pronunciation (nah-oh-me) and that would be how her grandparents would pronounce it.

That makes sense.
I like nah-oh-mee better than nie-O-mee though!

Yes, I'm thinking that too now. I'm sure that people would get used to it...

Well, I never liked Naomi, because I think it sounds ditzy. I do like Shoshana, but not in this particular combo. It just doesn't go together, IMO.

Vowel-heavy. Very vowel-heavy.

Okay, but what do you think of the name?

I don't like Naomi much under any circumstances. I do like Shoshana. Because of the vowel-heaviness, I would like Shoshana more in a different combo, and dislike Naomi less.

Thanks! :)

Love the meanings. "Pleasant Rose"
"Honest and beautiful lily"
"Straight and pretty rose"
"Pleasing lily"
etc...Hebrew and Biblical names appeal to me, so I find the combo lovely. I have long been an admirer of Shoshana and wish it were more prevalent out there in the world. I find it much nicer than Susanna, which I like anyway. I do happen to like Noemi or Noemie better, but that is purely due to sound. The name flows together, almost as if it were one long word... however, the sound is pleasant and it's easy to say. All in all, I would give it an 8/10 as a combo. Both names are lovely, and the sound and flow work well. However the pairing is not as strong as it is soft, and the flow is almost too seamless.

Thanks for all that! What do you think of Naomi Jacqueline - Jacqueline has been a favourite since I was 8! And Naomi Ariel. :)

Just chiming in to say that Naomi Jacqueline is really nice. I like that combo a lot!!

Thank you so much! I had posted about that combo years ago and had the same reaction. I would hate to give up Jacqueline since I was so young when I fell in love with it. I'm asking for a possible future child. :)

Off topic a bit, but I love how you rate combos. You are always so thorough. Makes me want to send you all of my favorites! :)

Love Naomi. Not crazy about Shoshana. Something about the flow is off. It feels very heavy and clunky.
