I think Percy, Ambrose, and Clement would go well with Myrtle. Ambrose might be a little too out there, though, so if I had to make a combo it'd be Percy Clement. Which - I think - sounds rather nice!

I like Peter, Alan (definitely not too common, in fact I'd love to see it on a person less than 50), Ambrose, Hosea and Moses. Please think long and hard about Virgil before you use it if you're in an English-speaking country...

Peter (too boring?) - my son is Peter, and it's worked well for him.
Percy - better for a cat; I've known several Percy cats
Vance - unused where I live. Dislike
Gabriel - shortens to Gay
Alan (too common?) - one of the all-time greats, and not common among newborns
Ambrose - Devil's Dictionary, otherwise foppishly dated
Clement - quite nice; prefer Clemency on a girl
Constant - has the wrong connotations where I live; probably not bad elsewhere
Eben - see Constant
Hosea (too weird, does it go with Myrtle?) - shortens to Ho
Moses - a one-user name, like Errol and Elvis
Virgil - unused where I live; good poet

Peter is not too boring! I think it'd go well with Myrtle. I also like Ambrose and Clement (Clem is a great nickname).

I LOVE Gabriel, Hosea and Moses and we considered using all these with our last pregnancy. I would go with Gabriel as the fn and then use either Hosea or Moses for a mn. I think Myrtle and Gabriel sounds quite good and I don't think Hosea or Moses really fits with Myrtle.

I love all of them too, but using Gabriel and then Hosea or Moses as a middle name would make it a bit too biblical, maybe... Also, I'm worried Gabriel is too plain compared to Myrtle.

I think if you love the names then use them anyway. I don't find Gabriel too plain at all, it's just so strong and handsome.

Honestly, I find Peter refreshing and not boring at this time. I haven't met an actual Peter in ages.Although common I do like Gabriel the best, Ambrose a close second.I grew up Catholic, so Clement is always a pope-name to me.
Alan seems a little dated at the moment.
Moses makes me think of Gwyneth Paltrow just as easily as the bible.Vance, Percy, & Virgil seem pretty fresh, though.

Love Peter, Alan, Ambrose, and Eben.
I think the only from your list that don't go that well with Myrtle are Percy, Vance, and Hosea.

Gabriel, Ambrose and Eben are my favourites. I also kinda really like Virgil. I dislike Percy, but like Percival I like Peter a lot, but it seems a bit plain compared to Myrtle

I like Myrtle with Peter, Percy, Gabriel, Alan, Ambrose, Clement and Constant. My favourites are probably Peter and Clement.

First of all, Myrtle is absolutely darling. For a little brother, I can see Myrtle playing well with -Peter
Ambrose
Clement
Hosea Nothing wrong with the other names, but they either seem too common (Gabriel) or have a different style where the two together seem a little odd (Alan, Moses). And this is all my opinion, of course, in the end it all depends on what feels right to you.My vote goes for Ambrose or Hosea. I love Virgil as well but the two together kind of rhyme.

I agree with everything you say.
Clement is one of my favourites, as are Peter and Ambrose. But maybe we'll use Peter as a middle name rather than a first name.

Peter - I like Peter. I don't think it's boring but I might be surprised to see it with Myrtle.Percy - Percy is kind of Geeky, though it fits well with Myrtle. You realise you'd have two Harry Potter characters though?Vance - I've never heard this before. I like it! It's cool and goes well with Myrtle.Gabriel - one of my favs ^_^Alan - I dunno about common, but it's certainly usual and unsurprising. Like Peter, I wouldn't expect it with a Myrtle.Ambrose - I never know what to think of Ambrose. I only ever come across it in books where it always fits in with the setting... but I kind of thing any Ambrose would be look out of place wherever he went. Unless he was an actor. You seem to get away with anything name-wise if you're an actor.Clement - ugh. I really don't like virtue names. All I hear is that guy from Pirates of the Caribbean saying "I have granted you clemency" or whatever it is he says. Constant - ditto above. Virtue name.Eben - weird. This one looks like a typo of Eden to me. And it sounds like someone with a bad cold saying "even".Hosea - I totally thought this said Horsea. And I was like, a Pokemon name???? Hosea is unusual and might have pronunciation issues. I'd probably get used to it, but at the moment I don't like it much.Moses - Myrtle and Moses? Hmmm. I don't dislike it, but I think other names work better.Virgil - oh gosh, Virgil. Myrtle and Virgil ALMOST rhyme. It's too close to comfort for me.

Thanks for your opinions. I had no idea about the Harry Potter names though (Myrtle and Percy). The whole Harry Potter thing just passed me by :-P

Well, you're not missing out on much to be honest :pBut I think people might assume you'd chosen them both because of HP. And it might get annoying to always have to say you didn't.

The only name I like from your list is Gabriel. Myrtle and Gabriel go well together.
