Opinions on Madison?
Hi guys, my name is Madison and I hate it so much! I get called "Mad" "Mads" "Maddie" "Madisoian" and a family name, "Maddiedoo." There's a girl with the same spelling that "accuses" me of "stealing" her first name(she's in my grade and I'm older then her). I just want opinions on my name. Thank you for reading this.

I hope she's just joking about you stealing her name. She probably realizes that many people are named Madison. I like it, and would use it as a mn, since my cousin has a Madeline, nn Maddie.

Not keen, because to me it's a surname with a masculine ending. I do prefer Madeleine. However, Maisie might make a suitable nickname. I know it's a Scottish pet name for Margaret, but I don't see why it can't work as a pet name for Madison. And it's quite fashionable at present, but not too commonly used. As for your friend, she sounds like an immature brat. Don't let her worry you.

It's not bad. It's kind of nice! It has a nice sound. It is kind of flimsy as names go, but bajillions of girls are getting named faddier, flimsier names like Payton and Aubree and Avery and Brookleigh. Could be so much worse. You could have been an Addison. Or a Mallory, lol. Madison is relatively cool.Unsolicited advice: when people call you things you don't like, always correct them: "please don't call me ___." Do it every time, especially when you will interrupt the flow of conversation to do it. Make it embarrassing and inconvenient for them, to call you things you don't like.If I were a youthful Madison I might ask people who plainly wanted to call me something more familiar sounding than Madison, to call me Maz or Mazzy.

Madison isn't the worst name out there, but it's not one of my particular favorites. The nickname Maddy/Maddie isn't too bad. Sorry you hate it so much! Do you have a middle name you could go by? Or even initials that could be a nickname, like MJ or MT? Once you're old enough, if you dislike your name that much, you can legally change it.Also, if that girl wants to accuse someone of stealing "her" name, she should complain to her parents about giving her one of the most popular recent girls' names. Don't worry about getting ribbed on about your name or getting weird nicknames. It's probably happened to most of the people on here.

I'm not a fan either. Madeleine is better, but I'm not a fan of that either. I don't like my name either, and I'm sorry you don't like yours, maybe go by a middle name?

Oh, and I also get called Mad, Mads, Maddie, Madisonian and a family name, maddiedoo. Oh yeah, the madisonian comes from when I was in sixth grade by a boy named Michael and he still calls me that.

I actually kind of like it. I wouldn't seriously use it because it is too popular and I don't care for the meaning. I would use it for a pet though.

I'm tired of Madison, tbh. I teach, so it's a name I see all the time. Some of its kree8iv spellings are truly atrocious, and--when you include all the Madelyns (in all of their spellings)--I feel like I hear that "mad" sound way too often. That said, Madison is far from the worst name out there, and I don't hate it.

Madison?Boy's name to me! How about changing if you don't like it? I'm really Kevin but have went by Kev since I was 15Sonny would also work

Second this :) Going by Sonny / Sunny cuts out the Maddie nickname that's heard everywhere now. Sunny is super cute and not very common either. And, there are way worse things than Madison. In a thread above there's a girl been named McIntosh :/

Re McThank you for that McIntosh is the last name!
