Re: Bad initials?
in reply to a message by Bex
For me, it depends on what they are. ASS, STD, VD, etc., aren't ideal to me. Re: ASSA, I'm not so sure how I feel that about one. I probably would avoid that, however, I will say that as a new parent, what you worry about and try to avoid may end up happening anyway. With dd #2 (Victoria Brooke), I at first wanted to name her Victoria Danielle yet our surname is Burns and she would have been V.D. Burns which I thought was absolutely horrifying, lol. Thing is, now that she's married, her surname begins with the letter D and she is now Victoria Brooke D---- so she's V.D. anyway! She chose this, btw. She could have used a hyphenated surname or gone by her mn as she has done most of her life yet she's largely going by Victoria now so I'm realizing that: (1) you never know what a child will want to call him/herself, and (2) some people just don't care about initials! Bottom line: Unless initials spell something overtly awful, most people won't care or even notice. Hope this helps. ;-)
