Hey guys I haven't been around in a while(see the lounge for update) but on Saturday I will be getting a new puppy that I will be training into my next survice dog. So my first dog was named Abigail and is retiring due to medical issues. and I need help coming up with boy names. it is a huge standard poodle. he looks alot like this... https://www.google.com/search?q=red+standard+poodle+puppy+for+sale&biw=1440&bih=799&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=fjcTVYbjA9WfyASH7AI&sqi=2&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAg#tbm=isch&q=red+standard+poodle+working&imgdii=_&imgrc=Ic-1eKbxwRPyVM%253A%3B7aQWLF4-YIXEMM%3Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fs-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com%252F236x%252F6f%252Fcf%252F8e%252F6fcf8e78804ac2db9763ee18c724bfe4.jpg%3Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.pinterest.com%252Flfox21%252Fairedale-terrier-or-red-standard-poodle%252F%3B236%3B311theme's I was going to go with are (I would taken any and all suggestions though)

forgive me for being dense ...But aren't service dogs trained by organizations devoted to that kind of thing? Like a guide dog is sent to live with a 4H kid and his family for a year to learn how to get along with people and then it comes back to the facility to be trained?
What I'm saying is, won't a service dog already be named when you get him?
Or is it a different type of service dog.Spock?

normally yes but legally there is difference between getting a dog from an organization and those that are trained by there owners. as long as they a well behaved, non disruptive and task trained there is no difference. now the reason I have to go this(much harder) route is because I don't "fit" neatly into a category. I have been blind since birth have so I need a guide dog right? but I also have mobility issues from a stroke I had at sixteen the guide dog schools don't train dogs work with wheelchairs. and the assistance dog school don't train guide dogs they are a completely different philosophy of training. add to that the fact I also need a medical alert dog for syncope, seizure, and hypoglycemia. and no organization that produces any volume of dogs can't touch me because it has to be so custom so I am basically stuck with training my own or not being able to live independently at all. what is so frustrating is about 3 months ago after nearly 7 years of looking I found an organization that would work me because I only needed to use my powerchair for long distances and didn't need all those other assistance skills (like opening doors, and pulling of socks)and they believed that given time the dog would pick up alerting abilities. the wait? 5 years? fine Abby's still young we got time until Abby was hit by a car last month So now I'm stuck having to retire my amazing accomplishment at age 5 with only 4 hard years of work and I have to start from scratch or it will still be another five years before I see chance (there is no garentee the "match" an organization pair you up with will work out. so I choose reluctantly to do the owner training again

do you have a favorite star trek? so many options!Roddenberry with Roddy or Bear or Berry for short?Spock might suit him (RIP Leonard Nimoy!) Actually Nimoy wouldn't be bad either.ScottyWorf would be cute, too (I'm probably the only person that thinks Worf would be a cute name! hahaha What can I say? I grew up on The Next Generation.)Geordi or LeVar if you're a Geordi LaForge or Reading Rainbow fan :) I actually think Geordi would sound great for a dog that looks like that.If he's got style, Picard would be awesome, or Riker if he's spunky, or Wesley if he's sweetAnd I know she's a girl, but Guinan was awesome and you could call him Guy for short (and depending on his haircut he might even look like he's wearing her hat! haha) Archer

I like them all for different reasons I was thinking of Dax just a minute ago. but I could tell I could Trekkie out with you guys. I love Q, somebody suggested Tribble down below and I love that Idea and will use it for a nn but I don't think it sounds professional enough to go on a service dog harnese.

Teddy and Arizona could be cute boy dog names. Other names fitting you interests could be Benji (both biblical and B), Gideon, Moses, Killian, Archie, maybe Flynn?Of course there's always Tribble. Fur color matches too!

For Once Upon a Time you can do Henry or Neal. Killians okay but I don't think it will suit him.
