I suggest you go for something really mainstream as a fn - Genevieve for a girl, and either Ronan or Sebastian for a boy - and turn your DH loose to choose a mn that really means something to him. He'll always know it's there, and nobody else needs to be explained to on a daily basis.
I had a colleague who loved a fantasy author that I find extremely dull. But he adored this guy's work and named both his kids from some series, luckily not the main characters. The boy was Arutha and the girl was Gwynnath. Believe me, there were problems. No doubt still are, though the parents split up and I lost touch with both halves. But everyone assumed they were Arthur and Gwyneth anyway, so he might as well have just used the mainstream names and made everyone's lives easier.
