Name of the day! - JULIUS
Many of you may know that I have a bias towards this name since my amazing husband bears it. However, I am not totally sure what popular opinion is on the name Julius. Sound off if you have an opinion, positive or negative, and tell us whether you could see it on a kid today or whether it is best relegated to the Romans. Also - any preferred alternatives?
BONUS QUESTION - What is your favorite female variation on Julius?

I love the name, although I am also bit biased because it was my great-grandfathers names, but it is my favourite Jul- name for boys. I think Julius sounds better and more masculine than Julian, which is a bit feminine for me and sounds too much like mixture of Julie and Anne. My favourite female variation is Juliet.

I think it's alright. Not a favorite, but I like it enough. It was within top 100 about 15 years ago where I live (Sweden) so I wouldn't think it was strange to meet a kid named Julius at all.

I love Julius! It's so succulent and delectable to utter. I also love Jules and Junius.

I really like it! It's a favourite of mine, however I don't think it's very usable today. I don't really like many of the possible nicknames, so I wouldn't use one. My favourite female version is probably Juliette, though I like most of them.

I love the name, though I to have a bias towards Julius as a very good family friend has this name.
I also like the name Julian/ Julien.

Oh, I totally love the name Julius! I've always liked both Julian and Julius, but I have to say I prefer Julius; it's just such a soft, but strong, name. I'd definitely use Julius if I had to name a son one of those two names! And I definitely can see it being used on a kid today; I think it's a name that suits all ages! Juliet is my favorite female variation of Julius; it's actually my second favorite girl name!

I love Julius. It's so much fun. It's ridiculous. I once knew one - he was my high school art teacher. He was a Hungarian snob, very much not what my idea of Julius is - fun and wacky and loud - but he was nice to me, so he didn't ruin my good feelings about the name. I guess it helped that I also never called him Julius, or even thought of him as a Julius.I'd totally name a kid Julius, that name is so me. Julian is nice too, but a bit less fun. It's more "acceptable" where as Julius is like "whatever man, we are living in the theatre of the absurd".As for female forms, I do like the classic Julia, but I also enjoy Juliet. And Julitta is a guilty pleasure.
