Hmm, I would have to disagree. I think that ree-anna is the natural pronunciation with an American accent. We would consider rhi-AH-nah to be a foreign or "posh" pronunciation. I think that is what prompted the public to think that is how she said the name.
I have known several Rhianna and Rhiannons in my life and they all used a hard "a" in pronunciation.
Kind've like Clara as klah-rah versus klaire-uh. The latter is more natural, the former more "fancy".

Good for you guys. I guess American TV is a bit more assuming. I have heard several interviews in which she tries in vain to get the reporter to pronounce her name right.
