Annabel souunds wonderful for a gtl, but not mature enough for a young woman, and I would prfer the French spelling Annabelle with the nickname Belle.

I really like it but I prefer the spelling Annabelle. Love how there are numerous nicknames for it and I think it sounds really pretty

It's nice, but not a name I'd use myself. Too frilly.

Hmm, it's never been a favourite of mine. I don't know why, but it reminds me of a spoiled little girl and for some reason I don't see it age well... I do like Amabel, though. I feel like it's a totally different name than Annabel/ Annabelle.

Annabel is really nice and I much prefer this streamlined spelling to Annabelle although I can appreciate that spelling as well. I'm assuming you'd use this as a mn with a dd already named Isabel. That's fine, imo, and sort of a quirky thing to tie the girls together.

Pretty, I prefer Annabelle, though. My six-year-old brother's 'girlfriend' is called Annabelle, and she's adorable. Puts me in mind of innocent, pretty-pretty princesses with roses in their hair, and Annabelle plays that to the max. Annabel, for me, is an irritating half-way. I really like Anabela, it's pretty-pretty, but with less of the 'innocent' factor. ;)

Well, for starters I think this spelling looks incomplete. Annabelle looks much better.
But I don't like the name. It's just too precious and floofy. Like a very expensive, Victorian-style baby doll that some Jane Austen-obsessed fangirl would have sitting on her Laura Ashley bedspread.

I think of the poem Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe. That's a good or a creepy thing depending on your point of view. I think it's cool, almost a bit gothy?I dislike the spelling Annabelle.

I love it! It sounds timeless and makes me think of my favorite poem, Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe.

I wish I knew! It's been puzzling me all my life.I like Isabel a lot (prefer Isobel, but hey) and guiltily enjoy Rosabel and Christabel (but not Clarabel). So, why do I dither about Annabel when I'm an Anne fan of note? I do like it; I've never met one, so no associations to muddy the water; but I'd never, ever use it. Not if I had as many daughters as a herring. And Amabel is no better.Mabel Anne might be nice, though!

I really like it, this spelling only. Annabelle is gilding the lily. It's totally not usable as a sister to Isabel, but you probably know that. :-p

We are considering it as a middle name for our new little girl coming soon. It's just a middle name, so it doesn't really bother me too much. It's hard to agree on something with DH! :)
