Double A?
Trying to wrap my head around whether Theodora works with our surname (Arnold)
Every time I say it, I change my mind!Do you think names that end in A clash too much with our surname?Rowena Arnold
Theodora Arnold
Edwina ArnoldIs it all A names or just some that clash?(My name is Rebecca Arnold and I think it's fine.. but i'm not sure if Theodora sounds good with it or not)

Don't think an 'a' sound at the end of a name will clash with your last name. But Theodora Arnold doesn't ring right to me...

It sounds fine. I like it.

Honestly, I think it sounds nice.

I'm not bothered by first names ending in the same sound as last names. If anything I think it helps them flow together better, but I also have an accent that likes to drop consonants and slur things together anyway. Our last name starts with R and we intend to name our new baby Alexander. Meh.

I think it's fine and is nothing to lose sleep over.

Theodora Arnold is a bit of a mouthful, and can pretty easily be misheard as Theodore Arnold, but it's really -na endings that sound clumsy with Arnold. And -er/ar sounds too.

Hi !!!Yes...
Theodora Arnold clash for the RA AR sounds.Rowena and Winifred are beautiful but...clash TT
Daphne for me is too weak and soft for your surname. But it is the only one that has not the same sounds.
I dislike Edwina.
...It depends on your taste.
If the most important thing is the sound your best choice would be Daphne Arnold. If you don't care it so you can choose every name you want.
For me Edwina and Daphne are quite weak.
Rowena, Theodora and Winifred are stronger.Maybe you can look for their meanings...Theodora -- Greek -- gift of god
Winifred -- Welsh -- blessed/fair peace/reconciliation
Rowena -- Germanic -- fame and joy/bliss
Daphne -- Greek -- laurel
Edwina -- English -- rich friend
Hilda -- Germanic -- battleLooking for meanings with Hilda as MN (battle) the best is Rowena.Finally...
Best sound - Daphne Arnold
Best combo meaning - Rowena Hilda Arnold
More elegant name - Winifred ArnoldWDYT about all I write?Byeeeeeeeeeeeee

It's perfectly fine, I never even noticed it until I saw this post.

I know some people think that an "a" at the end of a name and an "a" at the beginning of the following name clash. I don't get this. Some of my favourite combos follow this pattern, I think they flow well and I thik Theodora Arnold flows well. Plus, if you don't mind it with your own name, I think that says a lot =)

I think Theodora Arnold clashes more than Rowena Arnold and Edwina Arnold because of the double "r" with ora-Ar. The na-Ar sound isn't as awkward. Does that makes sense?

Agree

By the way, Rowena is PERFECTTTT.

They don't clash at all. It definitely works.

I read the name in your post on the lounge and I did not even notice the adjacent A's.
I think it does not matter at all.

I think it's fine. Not ideal but not clunky.

Tbh, I don't think they flow very nicely. Theodora is the one that works the least imo.

Theodora Arnold is awkward, but I don't think it's because of the A's, I think it's because of the R's. RA AR is rather difficult to say.

ahhh! I didn't even think of the RA AR bit. Gosh i'm dumb!

but remember!+as an Australian, you, and your fellow countrymen and women don't pronounce the "r" as "hard" as we do, mostly, in north America. Thus, Arnold, is almost Ahnold. so Theodora sounds just fine.

Yes, that is true. I think i'm liking it. I've been testing it out for the last few days, referring to her as Theo.. i'm liking it a lot! :D
