Thoughts on these names
What are your thoughts on the names Clover and Zinnia? Both would be for a girl obviously. I love a lot of botanical names and I'm trying to get DH on board with them! He's not a big fan of botanical names really! Anyway, opinions on those two names would be great, thanks.Sarah -

Also love botanical names. I adore Clover - it's sweet without being twee and unusual without being outlandish. Zinnia - not so much.

Don't really like Clover. It reminds me of Clover Moore (no opinions one her though). It just seems a bit too ditzy and not serious.Zinnia is interesting, i'm not in love with it but it is nice. However with this huge influx of Z names at the moment I think it will blend in with the trendy/cre8ive Z name surge. (I know so many Zoe, Zali/Zahli/Zahlee, Zara and variations at the moment!)I still love Jemima

I think out of the two only Zinnia is really usable.

They're among the sillier botanicals, I think. Clover, especially, sounds like a name for a cow.

Clover has and always will be very bovinesque to me. Zinnia, otoh, is appealing. Oh, it's NMS and I don't think it would ever cross my radar, however, I'd love to meet someone with this name.

I've come to the conclusion that botanical names which don't have a strong history of usage strike me as silly, Clover and Zinnia included. None so awfully silly as Poppy, though.

Clover's ok but not a favourite. I don't care for Zinnia.

Ooh, toughie! They're both GPs of mine...but if I had to choose, I'd pick Zinnia.

I really like Clover, I think it's very different and cute. I've met one in real life and I liked it on her a lot =) Zinnia doesn't quite do it for me but there's nothing wrong with it either.

Zinnia is beautiful! Refreshing, feminine, and youthful, although I think it would age well.Clover is less lovely and more like the name of a cow. It just misses the mark as a name for a child. I wouldn't even give it as a middle name.

I think Clover is adorable, but it doesn't age past ten. I can't imagine a middle-aged lady named Clover and it's hard to take seriously when I consider it on an adult. It doesn't really pass the titles test: Dr. Clover Smith, The Honorable Judge Clover Jones, Prime Minister Clover Williams. Kind of makes me feel like I'll go with someone else who sounds adult enough to handle the job.Zinnia works for any age and I think it can pass for both fun and distinguished so while I hypothetically prefer Clover, Zinnia works much better in real life, I think. It won't upset her when she reaches those pre-teen and teenage years. It's definitely a fun and yet, workable name.I'd suggest saving Clover for the family pet.

I love Clover, it's so fresh and youthful and you could use the nn Clove. It took me awhile to warm up to it, but now I really do like it.Zinnia is gorgeous, I like how it's botanical but still sounds like an established name.
