What would you think...
if you met a baby today named Philip?

It's a common name for kids where I live, so I would think "Oh no, not another one" and I would wish that it was spelled Philip, and not Filip. Both are legit and common spellings here.
Please can I call him Pip. I adore Pip but dislike Philip or Peregrine :(
It would seem like a curious choice in this generation. Old fashioned and stuffy, but not old fashioned enough for it to be back on the trendy loop.
Although I like plenty of other versions of this name - Felipe, Filippo, Philippe, for some reason Philip has a really dull sound to it

I actually know one! His parents call him Pip for short. I like it.
I'd think it was pretty cute actually.
It would be a nice name for a baby boy. I only know one in my generation (born early nineties), and a couple in my parents' generation that strictly go by Phil.
So I would find a baby Philip refreshing... as long as they don't call him Phil.

I'd think he was definitely named after someone. Like his grandpa.
Yawn...
I'd be very pleased! I think it's a handsome name. It's my grandpa's name and I definitely would use it at least for a middle name for a son, it just didn't end up being the "right" name for either of them.
I have encountered a few young Philips, and really is very pleasant IRL.
