Petulia
Hi !!!I met an Italian girl whose name is Petulia.WDYTO this name?I honestly find it horrible. It thinks a mix of Petunia and Giulia. It is the first time I hear it but it is not a name that has an appeal imo..
Bad sound, it has not a particular meaning and it is unique but in a negative way imo..

It reminds of petulant. It does not have a pleasant feel.

Two words: Petula Clark.

It sounds like the name of a yappy dog or something, not a fan.

It's a 1960s film by Richard Lester; quite a good one, with Julie Christie in the title role.
I find the name quite horrible too! although at least in Italy 'peculiar' isn't going to be the first thing people think of. I wonder why her parents chose it?

It's not my style...I dislike emphasis on 'pet' in a name...but I don't hate it. I'd rate it 4/10.By comparison, I'd rate similar sounding names:Petunia - 2/10
Petula - 3/10
Petra - 5/10
Tulia - 5/10
Tula - 5/10
Giulia - 5/10
Julia - 8/10

I agree it's pretty bad. It's like a petunia (flower) but a petulant (sullen, bad tempered) one.

It makes me think of the word "peculiar".

It is pretty nasty! But, I dislike both Petunia and Giulia (though it's better than Julia for some reason). When I first saw it, I thought of an English singer called Petula Clark whose name was made up by her parents. Also not a good name at all.
