Teddy
Just read about a Dutch 'famous' couple having their first child named: TeddyAs far as it's known now, it's just Teddy as a full name. No middle names announced either, but I'm not 100% sure that there aren't any. She's joining an older half-brother named Dylan.

I think it's cute. I love the name Theodora, and while I'd use Thea as a nickname, Teddy would be cute as a pet name for a little girl. Not sure how it would hold up as she grew up, it's better as a nickname than a full name because of that.
I really like Teddy for a boy, but unfortunately I read too much true crime and can't dissociate it from Ted Bundy.

Er ... you did mean 'she', didn't you? Not 'he'? Teddy is pretty lame and wimpy for a boy, but for a girl it really is unpleasing on every level I can think of. Oh well, at least Dylan is a half-brother, not a half-sister!

Yes, that wasn't an accident unfortunately...Hadn't even thought of that. But I'd have preferred even Dylan on a girl to Teddy myself!

Used as feminine, it makes me think of lingerie.

SHE
*sigh*I was about to jump to the defence of Teddy as a name that I used to despise as ridiculous but somehow crept up on me so fast I found myself adding it to my long list (but perhaps only as a nickname to Theodore). However for a girl... I still can't get behind it. It's not unisex for me.

It reminds me of Ted Tonks from HP and teddy bears. Very teasable. But Teddy on a girl is quite cute! With all the 'antique' names coming back into fashion it fits the trend (:

Hi !!!I like Teddy.Despite being a nickname it works well as first name. Far better than Ben, Sam, Nick, Chris or other popular ones.My links are Teddy Bear & Roosevelt. It is also a Harry Potter minor character from the Next Generation. I actually like these links.

Well, as a girl I'd personally have preferred Sam or Chris as they're used more often as feminine nicknames. But I guess some people see the -ee sound on the end as more suitable as a feminine name.

Blegh, I don't like it. It sounds really cheap to me, but then again, what can you expect from parents named Waylon and Bibi? ;)By the way, this isn't the first child of a BN'er with that name - Ruud de Wild did it first, he named his daughter Teddy Mouna de Wild in 2016. Not a fan of that one either, but it's the best name out of all of his kids (the others being Johnny Johnny and Toy Travis).
