Two name sightings
A sixteen-year-old girl named Isis.
And a boy named Basil. I don't know Basil's exact age, since that account doesn't require us to ask the date of birth, but he must be a minor, as it was his father who was calling in to a pediatrician.
While I wouldn't use either, and wouldn't exactly say I like them, I admired the thinking-outside-the-box that led to their being chosen. Even though Isis did climb into the top thousand from 1994 through 2014, I still classify it that way, since it never rose higher than #522.
WDYT?

I have always loved the name Basil. Makes me think of either the herb or British comedy. But would I use it? Nah, I can foresee all the teasing.
Isis, unfortunately, is now associated with ISIS. While I personally wouldn't use it, I do think it's a shame that it'll probably go the way of Adolf/Adolph (though Isis never had that kind of popularity to lose). In fact, when typing this, my phone kept autocorrecting to all caps.

I've been thinking about Isis lately. I don't think it's usable as a first name as much anymore due to the association with the acronym unfortunately. It would be beautiful as a middle name.
Basil is not for me. I love the herb in cooking, but it makes a geeky/awkward name in my opinion. Faulty Towers comes to mind. I appreciate seeing it used though.
