Alicia
How do you pronounce Alicia? I have always said A-LIS-EE-A, but recently I have heard people saying A-LEE-SHA, A-LEE-SYA and
A-LEE-SI-YA.Comments appreciated

I've heard a-LEE-sha and sometimes even a-LISH-uh.

It can be pronounced BOTH ways. I know several girls with both names and some say "ah-lee-see-ah" and some say "ah-lee-sha"... it's personal preference. The "ag-lee-see-ya" and "ah-lee-sya" just depend on accents.

I originally heard it pronounced uh-LEE-see-uh.

I love it. I say a-LEE-see-a. With so many pronunciations, that's one reason I've never seriously considered Alicia.

I pronounce it A-Lis-ee-a as well. I think A-lee-sha is an American pronounciation. I rarely see Alicia pronounced that way in England. I usually see A-lee-sha spelt as Alisha or Elisha.

I currently know two Alicias and both say a-LEE-sha. I think a-LEE-cee-a is also a fine pronunciation. a-LIS-ee-a isn't one I've heard before though.

I most often hear it pronounced as ah-LEE-shah, but I have also met a couple Alicias called ah-LISS-ah or ah-LEE-see-ah.

I say "ah-LISS-ee-uh"I really dislike "a-LEE-sha", in fact that possibility ruins the name for me. (And "a-LEE-sha" is getting more prominent in Britain, thanks to famous American bearers.)_____________________________________________________________________Elinor
