Wilhelmina
Was talking to my grandmother about names and surprisingly she suggested Wilhelmina! She said when she was in England, their next door neighbours daughter was Wilhelmina and she always thought it was really sweet.I was a bit surprised! My grandmother has come up with some nice suggestions though (Estella & Edwina) So what does everyone think about Wilhelmina? Do you like Billie, Bill, Willa, Mina or something else for short?

I LOVE Wilhelmina, nn Mina.

I don’t really like Wilhelmina. It’s a bit too old-fashioned and somewhat frumpy and stern, though Mina is pleasant enough as a nickname. Out of Estella and Edwina, I much prefer Estella.

I’m really liking Wilhelmina at the moment. She’s strong, grand, and a little dramatic, and I just love the sound. I also like that there enough nns to suit anyone. I’d also maybe use Minnie or Nim.

I like it! I think it has much better nn options than Augusta does. Willa is my favourite nn for it.

South Africa is well endowed with Wilhelmina people, most of them elderly and all of them Afrikaans. So, now I come to think about it, yes, with an English pronunciation it could work well - just, not here! And your elder daughter has a fem form of a male name, come to think of it, so it would be a link between Sisters 1 and 3.Billie would be delightful as a nn, but in my experience, nns take care of themselves in their own time. Willa is good too, but there are so many little boys answering to Will that it might be worth avoiding. Or not! I don't know much about Oz naming. How would Wilhelmina work with your mn possibilities?

Second MN will be Stewart. First MN maybe Juniper? But it's a very long name in letters, not so much with syllables as its probably almost the same as Theodora's.

I’m not a big fan of Wilhelmina, it’s not really my style. I do think it would fit in nicely with your girls names though, because they both have long, uncommon names. I love the name Billie, so that would be my preferred nn.

Wilhelmina is a cute, fun name, and either Billie or Mina could work as nicknames. However, I'm fonder of the spelling Willemina.

I like Wilhelmina the best out of the other names you’ve mentioned so far (Augusta, Edwina etc) and it fits with the sibling set if that’s important. I prefer Willa or Mina. I don’t like Bill on a male let alone a female. Billie is slightly better because it’s closer to something like Millie which is feminine.

I like it! If you must shorten it, Willa or Mina. Please not Wilma, Bill, Billie or Willy.

Wilhelmina is a gorgeous name! Your grandmother has good taste. :)I like Billie, Willa, and Mina as nicknames for it. I think Willa is the most intuitive for me personally.

It’s not one I would use myself as it’s not exactly my style, but it goes absolutely perfectly with your daughters’ names. It’s got many of the same characteristics: strong but still long and feminine, recognizable but rare, down-to-earth but scholarly and steeped in history, great nickname potential, etc. There’s even a cute family connection with your grandmother suggesting it. Ticks all the boxes. Honestly, now that you’ve added it to your list I’m going to be rooting for this one until the end!

I love it. I find the spelling clunky and prefer Willemina for that, but I know you strongly Wilhelmina. I love the contrast between the length and visual clunk and the lightness of the sound.Billie is my favorite nickname. I spent a lot of effort trying to convince DH is was a good idea. Willa just feels a bit limp beside the full name. Mina is spunky.

My grandma was Wilhelmina. She hated it, preferred to go by her middle name. I'm not so keen on it myself, however, I do love Billie a lot, both masculine and feminine, though I'd prefer it to be short for Willow.

I love Wilhelmina! I've always been fond of it.Willa's probably my favorite nn, but I think the others are nice as well. Billie/Bill has grown on me recently.

I mainly liked the idea of Bill because of Enid Blyton. One of the characters in Mallory towers was Wilhelmina "Bill" as she had 7 brothers and was the only girl.
It was one of my favourite books as a kid.

It’s definitely not my style. I don’t care for it much, it’s very grandmotherly and old lady style.
And I really hate the masculine nicknames. But I do think Mina is a cute nickname!
