Which do you like better? I like Kelvin better because it’s less common.

I like Kelvin better. It's nerdy, Kel is a cool nn, and Calvin is too Calvin & Hobbes.

KelvinHi !!!I would not use either of them. I prefer Kelvin.
It is ok and it's origin is nature-themed and Scottish.Calvin is terrible.
In Italian "bald" is said 'calvo' so it has the same root, way too immediate to everyone here. Then Calvin reminds me a stern, strick, Puritan religion. Not my cup of tea.

My uncle's name is technically Kelvin, but everyone calls him Kelly. I prefer Calvin, but I can see the appeal of Kelvin.

I wouldn't use Kelvin, but I greatly prefer it to grim Presbyterian Calvin.

I'd rate them both 6. I'd pick Kelvin because it seems more familiar (like Kevin and Kelly but not - more proper) and doesn't mean bald.
My main associations with Calvin are fashion (Klein) and Alvin the chipmunk. Despite that, it sounds a little stuffy, maybe because of Calvinism.Calvin is more classic and less dorky maybe...in the way that Kelvin seems a little like Dexter and Calvin seems a little like Alfred.

They're both okay ...
I like Kelvin because I like the Kel- syllable. I'm a little put off by the similarity to Kevin, though, and by the "Lord Kelvin" association.
I like Calvin because I like the sounds in it okay, I like Cal; and it seems more classic. I'm put off a bit by the association with Calvinism.
Kelvin seems a bit more surnamey than Calvin. But has a better meaning.
Hmmm ... Right now the Calvinism thing seems to bother me the most, so I'll go with Kelvin today.

I don’t like either, but prefer Kelvin.

CalvinI don't think Calvin is common because I've only ever known one, my age. Kelvin sounds like it ought to be Calvin imo, and clunky besides.
Calvin 8/10
Kelvin 0/10
