make up a name??
hi! it’s me again XDso my question today is... has anyone here made up a name? i don’t mean a different spelling or anything, but like a name no one has heard before(?). It could be two names merged together or something like that, but i’m just curious about whether or not anyone has made up a name, and how they made it up. it could even just be for a character!thanks for reading :)

I made up Calamaria. I liked Cala Lily’s at the time.I also made up Suiza a mash up of Susan and LouisaTyarnia my way of trying to make Tiranus more feminine. I heard Tiranus on a tv programme.

Calamaria would be an amazing name if it didn't sound like calamari :P

I made up Zemfir, like a masculine version of Zemfira. I really like it.

Honestly I wouldn't know because half the time I try to make up names it turns out they already exist or they're just variations on a name that already exists. Some names I thought I made up (but most of them were already names):
Raelyn
Celton (actually just a spelling of Kelton influenced by the word Celt/Celtic)
Sealan
Alisanne / Alysanne
Aeowyn (actually just a spelling of Eowyn)
Redmond / Redmund

Most of mine are/were for characters in fantasy settings. They were made just by mashing sounds together, but I'll mention my inspiration if I remember. I didn't think these names existed when I mashed them together, but I'm sure they're similar or exact to some existing names.Lewenna
Nimruna (I really liked Nimue and Rue at the time, I imagine it's inspired by those sounds)
Sariska (Sarah + Mariska, basically)
Ysmena
Avalune (Ava + inspired by Luna)
Velastra
Inadia (I + Nadia, very Apple of me)
Ellesif (Inspired by Elizabeth and Sif)
Cathlain
DorosetTristace
Tesodor
Berenil
Alerian

I thought I made Ethelmary up. Turns out there were people who actually used it! :D Copy and pasting my post on another forum:Joanette. A bit of Joan, a bit of Jeanette
I added Elysiana to my list today. Just a fancier form of Elysia.
Merinne? I randomly thought of it but sounds like a mix of Merry and Corinne!

When I was younger, I 'made up' some names:
Aelina and Suvi.
The first was inspired by Aelita, and the second was a portmanteau word, formed from two names (SUsan + VIctor).
Sadly, it turned out that both of these names had already existed:) Well, I was a kid, and I've tried my best;)
