Re: Josephine nn Effie
in reply to a message by Amy
Ugh. The plain, almost crude, nickname Effie ruins the more sophisticated Josephine. Josephine has far nicer diminutives to choose from that don’t detract from its charm. Effie completely lacks charm. Even Sephie (which is more intuitive, at least to me) would be better than Effie.
Josephine Corinne Amy is ok.
Other suggestions off the top of my head with mostly vintage vibes:
Josephine Ruby Claire
Josephine Lily
Josephine Annabel
Josephine Bellamy
Josephine Cora Rose
Josephine Esther Pearl
Josephine Violet

Tell me how you really feel about Effie! Haha it's all good...It's not a common name, so I expect a lot of people will have varying opinions about it.
I first fell for Effie as a teen after reading Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The character Lena was of Greek heritage and had a sister named Effie. I always imagined her nickname was short for or honoring someone with Greek name Efthalia. I thought it was adorable, but I'm sure many other people get old lady vibes from it, etc.
Cute combos, thanks! I think Josephine Violet and Josephine Esther Pearl are the most appealing.
