Crystal
Do you like Crystal? It always makes me think of snow, ice crystals, winter - so I really like it.Which image do you get? Do you like it?Do you even still hear it as a word name or does it melt into the 80s Chris-trend for you (Christina, Christine, Kristen etc)?I love both Crystal and Angel. I think they give me different images than most people. Crystal is all winter and Angel is Victorian, I think of angel statues, ivy, flowers.Do you like Crystal and Angel?Which would you choose? Please rate my list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/6232

I wouldn't use either, but if I had to, I would choose Crystal. Classism aside, I like the sound better, and the association. Angel seems like the worst kind of virtue name, in that you're just asking for your child to turn into a hellion.Classism not aside, Crystal doesn't sound as tacky as Angel. I've known some perfectly nice Crystals. I would also spell it Christl, and say it's because of my German heritage. Also, there was a probably-horrible movie from the '70s or '80s titled Angel that was my first encounter with the name.

I think it's tawdry. I really dislike it. I really dislike Angel too. BUT I am the first to admit that I have class anxiety and even though I hate it, I would not want to be associated in any way with either of these names.

I love Crystal! It actually makes me think of gemstones rather than ice. I wouldn’t actually use it because it’s hopelessly dated.

Krystal is ok, I don't like Angel

I really dislike it and I don't know why. I've met 2 and both were lovely ladies, but I still don't like it.

I actually kinda like Crystal. Ironically enough, I remember when I was around 8 and in Summer Camp, this girl named Crystal stole one of my crystals and claimed it was “magic” so that’s kinda funny.
Crystal gives me very good vibes. As far as Angel, maybe it’s because the first Angel I ever met was a guy, and it reminds me of archangels (Who are all males) I find it like 95% masculine. I wouldn’t wanna be a girl named Angel.

I actually really like Crystal! I love the sound, it's so beautiful and tinkling. I love crystals in general too. It's interesting that you see it as wintery - I guess I can understand that, but I see it as a very summery name. Like ice in a glass, refreshing and cool. I think of a crystal hanging in a windowsill, creating rainbows in a sunroom. That sort of thing. I see it as a word name but it does have very strong 80s energy. I would pick Crystal over Angel. There's something closed off about Angel that I don't like. The word itself is ok, but as a name....no. It seems too abrupt.

I like it, and I might use it on a character in the future.

Hard and cold and colourless. Nothing to enjoy there! And Angel isn't a patch on Angela, which I wouldn't use but I certainly prefer it.

Hate itI find it tacky, and the sounds aren't even pleasant.

It feels sort of brittle to me. Like glass breaking, if that makes sense. And, yes, very dated. My first association is the character on the old TV show "Dynasty". I think that may have been spelled Krystal, though if memory serves.

I like it, but in a slightly GP-Ish way? I prefer Angela or Angelica to Angel.

It melts into the 80's Chris-trend for me. Unfavorable images come to mind when I think of the name-- I don't personally like it or Angel. If I had to choose between the two, I would probably pick Angel.

I always did like Crystal. I would like it even if I didn't happen to have a beloved cousin name Crystal. I also like Krystal but not quite as much.
According to the stats, Crystal was still in the top 100 here in Delaware just a few years ago. Generally though, you don't see it on kids anymore.
I'd much rather be Crystal than Angel. Angel is a bit too cutesy; nobody seems to name pets Crystal.
