I love Ingrid. It’s one of my favorite names right now.

I used to think this name was immensely overrated on site, but I kinda dig it. I don’t like that weird feeling it gives me in the mouth though. I prefer Astrid, and Sigrid for that reason.

I kind of like it but not as much as other -rid names. In Swedish Ingrid is pronounced without the hard G-sound. It's a lot harsher in English, which makes it more unpleasant. Still, I would love to meet a little Ingrid. What middle name/s would you use?

I would probably use Ingrid Vivian or Astrid Vivian after my deceased grandmother Vivian.

I consider this an "ugly" name and I'm always surprised when people like it! It's a nice surprise for sure. It's very clunky and unforgiving to me. Which is part of its charm.

I like it, however I like Astrid more because it sounds less harsh and because of the meaning.

It's always seemed flat and dull to me: I don't get the Nordic-blonde vibes that others enjoy, and I don't like the feel of my mouth when I say it. I knew an Ingrid at school whose nn was Inky, which didn't help.My favourite -rid name is Sigrid. Then Astrid, and finally Ingrid.

In Sweden both Sigrid and Astrid are very popular names right now but Ingrid hasn't caught on yet. Maybe it's just a matter of time or maybe people just doesn't like it as much.
(my niece is named Sigrid and my grandmother was named Astrid)
