Jeremy and Jeremiah
What do you think of these two, and which one you prefer and why?

Jeremy shorter less syllables easier to say and nicer

I prefer Jeremiah.
Jeremy seems more down-to-earth to me, though.

Jeremiah, jeremiad, all the cultural baggage. No, thanks. Jeremy is so Tory MP that it's hard to take seriously; plus, my friend's youngest brother used to be a ghastly brat, but now he's become a really nice, worthwhile person so that's a point in Jeremy's favour but not enough for me to ever think of using it.

I only knew of one Jeremy in my school growing up. He was bullied (including being called Germy on occasion) and was rude himself. That was my only association for a long time, so I've never liked it. It has grown on me some in recent years but only enough that I feel lukewarm about it. My visual association with Jeremy right this minute is camouflage pants (I don't know where that's coming from, but it's an outdoorsy conservative vibe, I guess).Jeremiah I don't have a problem with. I enjoy saying it. I'd prefer it to Josiah or Nehemiah. But it gives me a 1970s church camp vibe...I have noticed myself liking Ger* / Jerry a little more lately (mainly Gerald and Germaine, though).

They're both nice. I can't really say which one I like best. Maybe Jeremiah, but then there's the bullfrog.

I totally adore the bullfrog! Long ago and far away, our neighbour across the road had a little pond in her garden into which a bullfrog actually moved one year. I loved him, called him Jeremiah, but DH is a very light sleeper and not a Vintage Pop/Rock fan so he spent hours muttering about what he wanted to happen to Jeremiah. It never did, but then we moved. Thanks for reminding me.
