Re: What Names Would You Pick For Your Children From Your Own Generation & Region?
in reply to a message by Dianatiger
Idk, it's hard to say what people as a group recognize.
I made a long hypothetical list (feel free to make combos from it, anyone). I'm probably forgetting names I like and not sure what I'd realistically pick from the list right now.
60-70 from the top 500 of my birth year I'd maybe consider:
Joseph, Philip, Nicholas, Adam, Bryan, George, Dominique, Benjamin, Richard, Patrick, Jason, Marcus, Timothy, Jesse, Nathaniel, Jonathan, Justin, Russell, Luke, Darius, Demetrius, Isaac, Frederick, Maurice, Omar, Harold, Bernard, Cedric, Oscar, Rafael, Ariel, Cornelius, Clay, Stefan, Alfred, Damien, Dante, Felix, Fabian, Fernando, Perry, Kendrick, Myles, Ruben, Roger, Emmanuel, Ernest, Isaiah, Andre, Antoine, Gustavo, Gabriel, Hector, Henry, Jamal, Gerald, Carl, Salvador, Jerome, Julian, Arthur, Gilbert
Some that I think had been used in my region by then:
Conrad, Moses, Solomon, Ozias, Cyrus, Casper, Amzi, Ezekiel, Elijah, Yves, Prosper, Galen, Ezra, Denmark, Tobias, Ulysses, Balthazar, Alcide, Junius, Wendell, Aurelius, Johann, Isidore, Starling, Robin, Eagle, Meriwether, Cassius, Lazarus, Odell, Garnet, Neptune, Basil, Oberon
60-70 from the top 500 of my birth year I'd maybe consider:
Holly, Margaret, Caroline, Erika, Maria, Melanie, Cassandra, Tiffany, Kendra, Julia, Julie, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Sarah, Jasmine, Anna, Candace, Meredith, Nicole, Angela, Valerie, Miranda, Claire, Dominique, Bridget, Theresa, Mercedes, Jane, Raquel, Gloria, Naomi, Esther, Charlotte, Rose, Hope, Miriam, Sylvia, Dorothy, Charity, Celeste, Esmeralda, Josephine, Judith, Darlene, Irene, Angelica, Regina, Nadia, Helen, Roxanne, Gabrielle, Ariel, Autumn, Melinda, Carmen, Veronica, Ruth, Joanna, Robin, Tamara, Cara, Sophia, Melody, Simone, Yolanda, Isabel, Iris, Laurel, Patrice, Deborah
Some that I think had been used in my region by then:
Rhiannon, Lucinda, Vashti, Geneva, Katrell, Rosabell, Azalea, Calpurnia, Cornelia, Cordelia, Phoebe, Phaedra, Tryphena, Zipporah, Keziah, Meribah, Ernestine, Sybil, Patience, Lemon, Ivy, Hazel, Magdalena, Eve, Memphis, Octavia, Zelda, Delora, Loretta, Gwendolyn, Rhoda, Drusilla, Arabella, Laetitia, Elmira, Odessa, Cherry, Willow, Veda, Viola, Astrid, Plutina, Winifred, Mozelle, Matilda, Maude, Fern, Rosemary, Dahlia, Gardenia, Victory, Amethyst, Adair, Syntyche, Georgiana, Nadine, Ursula, Zora, Portia, Eartha, Mehetabel, Fay, Dara, Frida, Gertrude, Opal, Jean, Minerva, Althea, Rosalind, Marguerite, Jobyna
The style of my region is basically: Any biblical name. A lot of wordy (English) virtue and botanical names. Some classical names, mostly Latin. Traditional English names. Some French, Spanish, Irish, German, and Arabic names. Some random place names and names from pop culture. Made-up names. Names that end with el/ell/elle.
Current earworm: "Little Dark Age (in Classical Latin)"

I relate to the community naming standards of the region. That's an impressive list line up though of different ideas
