Maddie (and Madison, Madeline etc.)
What do you think of Maddie? Is it dated to you? Would you spell it Maddie or Maddy? Would you use it as a full name?Which longer form do you prefer?Madeline - pronounced -line or -lynn?
Madeleine
Madelyn or MadilynMadelaine - there's an actress called this and she says it mad-eh-lain, which I find pretty.Madison or Maddison

Madeleine (mad uh lehn)
But I prefer Magalie, Magdalena or Mágdala.NIf I did choose Madeline it would be "lin" not line (as in train).Never the other names. I do not like a girl having the ending -son. Nor do I like Madigan.
I've never cared for the Maddie names because they begin with the word mad. It's just a pet peeve I have.
Maddie as a given name is... ugh. It's just so insubstantial. As a nickname it's fine.Of the ones you've listed, Madeleine is easily my favorite, though I see nothing wrong with Madeline. Madelyn is okay, I guess, but it seems like an overly modern spelling that is unneeded. Madelaine doesn't interest me much.Interestingly, it seems the spelling I encountered most during my last few years as a teacher was Madalynn. Didn't love it, but I actually rather prefer it to Madelyn.Madison is dated, and was never pretty to begin with. Likewise Maddison.
I do find Maddie a bit dated, but I think it's because I have strong associations of it from school. It feels very 90s to me. Which I think is before Mad- names got really popular. I wouldn't use it as a full name.I don't mind Maddie and Maddy, and I always preferred the spelling Madeline. I like Madeleine a lot too, but my dyslexia causes me to mix up the e and i, every time. So Madeline is the safest bet. I prefer the nickname Mad or Mads above Maddie (I credit the movie Death Becomes Her for my fondness for Mad). Madelaine is really chic, I like that.I also like Maddy as a nickname for Maddalena, and Madder (as a GP. I read it in a book once and thought it was really cool).I am not a fan of Madison. Madigan is interesting. Madrigal could be fun too, if a little bit "out there". But then people named their kids Cadence, so.
I love Madeline, but Maddie feels like an overused nickname. Madeline is definitely the best full name for Maddie, Madison is to trendy.
I never want to hear this name again. It’s soooooo dully bratty.
Maddie is a great nickname. My pick for the given name would be Madelyn. Old names always seem to gain new popularity every second or third generation.
If I had to pick between these, in an Anglophone context, probably Madelyn or Madison. Though my personal favorite is Madelen. It retains its pronunciation in English whilst having a beautiful ring to it in Swedish (emphasis on the last E). Generally I tend to like when names have a neat and straightforward spelling. People always get my real name wrong, so I wouldn’t wish that headache on others.
I don't dislike Maddie, it's cute, but I prefer the spelling Madi, it feels neater and straightforward. Maddy is fine but bland. I wouldn't use any of them as a full name.My preferred longer form is Madeleine, then Madeline (both pronunciations), then Madelaine, then Madelyn and lastly Madilyn, which I dislike. Other forms I like are Madalaine, Madalene (and Madalène), Madelene (and Madelène), Madeleina, Madelina and Madlena.Maddison looks overdone and obnoxious, like a combination of Madison and Addison. I like Madison, it's juvenile and fresh, but overused. I enjoy Madigan, and I'm surprised it hasn't charted yet.Last but not least, I think Maddie would make an adorable nickname for Maud / Maude.
Aw, Maddie for Maude is cute.
I prefer Madeline, pronounced MAD uh lin and with the middle syllable hardly there at all.
Maddie isn't dated, but nor is it in any way desirable. Maddie is the reason I'd only ever consider Madeline as a mn.
I dislike lnfns unless the name is a family surname which would otherwise die out. In which case, I'd use Madison as a mn and keep quiet about it.
Madigan? Never seen that one; looks like an insane woollen button-up sweater. Avoid!
