Re: Flora or Florence
Probably Flora as I think Florence was overused here for a decade or two recently. I like Flora combined with another name - like Flora Grace, Flora Beth, Flora Siân.
FLora is also a more unusual flower namer than say, Rose, Lily, Poppy, Daisy (I like Posy or Posey as a name tho it comes from Josephine; Posey has that connection, too, to the 1930s Ballet Shoes series of children's novels by Noel Streatfield). However Flora has the connection (in my culture) to Flora Macdonald (who helped Bonnie Prince Charlie escape to Skye from Eriskay; so it was a not uncommon name in Gaelic Culture for a period as Flòraidh (the generation before mine) equally there's an element of tartan shortbread tin about it, but equally, the McCalmans have a song, "Strong Women Rule Us ALL" which gives a positive twist to the name.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEYwz_FHFnA < link to the song about Flora MacDonald.
