Simon
I'm starting to like this name. What do you think of it? Is it too dated?

I love this name but it has been ruined for me by the one and only Simon I have ever known (met six months ago) who is complete low-life scum. Too bad because this is a great name. BTW he has a brother named Pierce (also a great name imo).

I love Simon; it's not dated at all. I somewhat prefer Simeon, but it sounds too close to "simian" (as in monkeys). Simon is classic, but not common.

Simon was always just another name to me. Nothing special but nothing terrible. I think of two famous Simons: Alvin, Simon and I forget the other one.... And two: Seventh Heaven. Both are good thoughts for me. Its a great name if there arent any others you love so much more (which is my problem)

I strongly dislike it, partly because I think it sounds weedy/sinister, and partly because of a bad experience. Simeon would be nice were it not for the monkey issue ...

I don't know that it's dated ow, but I don't care for it. I picture a sly, dishonest little boy, the one who always evades questions you ask him and whose stories you always need to check because he often "forgets" important details, like the fact that he wasn't technically in school when he is supposed to be.
I also think of Simon the Chipmunk, who was cute.
And the electronic game Simon, a childhood favorite, where you push the colored light-up panels in the order in which the game shows you.

I love itI take care of a baby at work with this name (not sure of the mn). His dad's British. And he has sisters named Olivia & Madelyn who are twins. I think the names go together very well.

Simon to me is almost exactly like Oliver - it's not dated, but it isn't hip, and it's sort of a 'brainy' name to me, usually on men whose power comes from wit instead of brawn.I like Simon better than Oliver though; it's been on my list for a long time, while Oliver has fallen off. I guess it seems less dated, or else its date is a couple decades later, in my mind.. it's vaguely 80s to me. The only 80s Simon I'm thinking of right now is S. LeBon of Duran Duran, but I'm pretty sure there are others. Oliver makes me think of Oliver Twist.. oh, and Oliver North; and of a really bright, tiny kid named Oliver who I went to grade school with.edited to add: Sorry I got carried away on the Oliver thing, but it really is that similar "feeling" to me to Simon. - chazda

My older brother is called Simon and I've never really liked the name!! It always gets used for nerdy, but often sweet guys on tv and in movies, which I find interesting. Anyway, I'm starting to think it's not so bad lately myself, since I met this really nice guy, who is also cute, who is named Simon! I don't find it too dated either, I think it's more of a classic name that is not overly used.

I've only known a couple of Simons, but the name doesn't seem dated to me at all. I think that its underused, but not necessary my style.
