Rowan/Rohan pronunciation
Can the name Rowan be spelt as Rohan or are they completely different pronunciations and names? Are there other alternatives?

Rohan , Ruadhan , Ruan are all gaelic spellings of Rowan and all pronounced ROEin. Outside North America Rohan is a common spelling far more associated with the irish than hindi name. Infact in australia i know several Rohan(ROEin) and not one Rohan(ROE-han). This is also the case in the british isles.

Ruadhan is pronounced ROO-awn, but still very similar. I've often heard Rohan pronounced as ROE-in as well.

They're completely different namesClick on these hyperlinks: Rohan, RowanAs for pronunciation, I suppose in some accents they'd be the same. But in North America, they're pronounced very differently: Rowan's RO-an, while Rohan's RO-hawn.Robin, Rolan / Roland, Roman, Ronen, Rónán (Ronan), Roshan, Rowland, and Roydon could be alternatives.Miranda

I've heard of Rohan as an alternate legitimate spelling of Rowan (pronounced the same), in several books, but I would be tempted to pronounce it RO-han, in light of the LOTR series.
