Elysia - pronounciation
my name is Elysia and it is always the same when i start somewhere new - I get called E-lee-shah. I have always said it E-li-see-ah the 'li' is said as in pelican. this seems to be different to any of the others on this posting...

Probably because at least in English your pronunciation seems to correspond more to the spelling Elissia--vowels tend to be said long when surrounded by single consonants, short with doubles (hater, hatter for example.)
Or there could be the fact that Elysian as in "Elysian Fields" is pronounced E-lee-zhun.

I don't think it looks like it would be pronounced E-lee-shah. I would think it would be E-lee-see-ah. E-li-see-ah makes sense too.
I say eh-LIZZ-ee-a, like Elysium with the -um swapped for -a :-)

Today, I would tend to say e-LIE-see-ah.
