Hi
Laura,
I haven't heard of the name Minnaloushe, but if it's a female name it looks like a combination of
Minna and
Louise. In Germany combinations like that are very common (concerning
Minna I just know of Minnalies and Minnalene but anyway...).
But
Minna doesn't mean protection!
Minna can come from
Mina which is short for namnes ending with -mina (most often:
Wilhelmina, which means "will" and "helmet, protection") or from names beginning with Minne- like e.g. Minnegard, which means "love" and "shelter, protection".
In the first case,
Minna is just a seperate diminutive ending like names like Line,
Rina etc. In the second case
Minna would come from the first part of the names: Minne- which comes from the Old
German word "minnja" which means "love, loving memories"
Regards,
Satu
