Has there ever been a real person named Lucifer?
Someone slightly known or famous, perhaps?I happen to think it's a beautiful name with a beautiful meaning, and I don't really connect it with the Devil anymore (I connect Satan with the Devil, much more than Lucifer). Plus, I'm an atheist.I was just curious to know if there have been people named this name. Any cases known to you? I prefer to hear about European people named Lucifer, but well, American ones will do as well. :)Thank you very much in advance,Lucille

Not only is my first name Lucifer, but my full name is (no shit) Lucifer Morningstar. Lucifer Abygael Venus Morningstar, actually. So yes, there are people named Lucifer. And I am a woman. Lucifer is not only a male name. It's just thought to be so because men wrote the bible, and men lead almost all the churches. And the church isn't really big on women having any semblance of power for themselves, let alone a name said to be powerful enough to defy gods to their faces and rally a full third of its henchmen to their side with persuasive arguments.

Damn, ok so I was reading a book and found out the name Lucifer is supposedly Satan??? So then I decided to look around to see if anybody actually was named Lucifer! I found this and saw that this was in 2003! God that would be pretty cool if u answered but I mean... 2003 is before I was even born, so pretty long time ago and so you probably won't answer haha! But like, I couldn't find anybody named Lucifer anyways-Bye Lucille!

I’m named Lucifer but I’m American. The name actually originates from the planet Venus and stuff and wasn’t in the original version of the Bible. It’s latin and I really like it, any “Christian” who doesn’t like it should prepare for a history lecture from me about their own religion.

The latin Vulgate uses lucifer to translate the Hebrew word for Venus. Isaiah compares the hubris and fall of a Babylonian king to the morning star, which appears to ascend to the heavens only to fall out of sight. Several myths from the Near East note the phenomenon and explain it as a god or hero who attempts to usurp the supreme deity only to fall into the underworld for a time. The analogy and name is later applied to Satan. Whatever your religious beliefs, the reference is to venus as one who shines brightly for a while, only to fall into darkness, not a particularly good choice of name.

I agree Lucifer is a wonderful name -- bearer of light -- and is evil only to those who want to withold enlightment. Although I have never met a Lucifer per se, I am sure all of us have met a Lucy -- same meaning and etymology :) Moreover I have met women called Eos in my neck of the woods (Eos = The Goddess of dawn; matter of fact Eosforos is the Greek version of Lucifer)

I really hope you won't use it for a child!
A couple of years ago, there was a poor kid here in Sweden, who was named Lucifer.

Maybe the people in a country that is 28.4% atheistic, like Sweden, should be more enlightened than to pick on someone with a biblical name like degenerate evangelical sycophantic Americans would. Be better, Do Better, Sweden.
