Hi, does anybody know anything about the origin and meaning of the name Veness? I think it is old Norman but don't know anything else!

I know the name Venessa (not
VAnessa
). It was a
Roman
princess living in Gaul (so it goes well with the old
Norman
background)...
About the meaning, I dunno... Maybe something involving the goddess
Venus
?

Another possible origin of the name might be the city of
Venetia
, Venice with a funny spelling.

Vanessa is known to be a normand variant of the latin name Bernice/Berenice. Veness as well i suppose.
