Elen - Welsh form of Helen?
Elen is considered to be a Welsh form of Helen, but since St. Elen lived in the 4th century, I'm wondering if it mightn't be an indigenous Welsh name.Does anyone know if the name Helena was in use in Roman Britain?I've seen it suggested that Elen comes from a Welsh word for "nymph" - can anyone substantiate this? Thanks!
