I was reading a recipe for peanut brittle when I saw this name: Zettie (feminine). The article said the lady was 85-years-old and the name was attached to a comon English surname. My first thought is that Zettie is a nickname for something comon and popular such as Elizabeth (like Bettie / Betty). If anyone has any information or suggestion on Zettie, it's origin and it's meaning I'd be most grateful.LauriePhotobucket - Video and Image Hosting

My guess would be that the origin isn't English, but German. Such as Zettler, Zettel, Zettwoch, etc.I don't know how accurate this link/site is, but it has some info that might interest you:http://www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.fc/qx/zettler-family-crest.htm

Perhaps it was originally a pet form of Suzette, just as Nettie was originally a pet form of names like Jeannette or Annette.
