astronomicon's fantastical/mythological NTNB | round .5
Right-o, guys! For round 5, we've jumped 5 years. There's quite a lot of waffle-y family exploration so I'm sorry if it's hard to find the rules for each name. If it's a problem, please let me know! I promise it won't always be this wordy :PLast round was great as always - I really loved the suggestions for the Morgans' twins and for the first family's triplets! Some great suggestions and I changed my mind about three times whilst choosing them. :) It was a difficult decision!And, I say this every round, but if you have missed a few rounds or haven't played at all before, you're more than welcome to join this round! And if you've played along since the beginning, thank you, you've been awesome! :DPlease don't be put off by the huge paragraphs, and have fun! :D

Dog: Brynhild [Amorak] {Kaesy}
~Puppy 1: [Amorak] (Iseq’s dog)
~Puppy 2: [Amorak] (Qila’s dog)
~Puppy 3: [Amorak] (family dog)Five years have passed, but Kaneq and Mathias are pretty sure that they’re done having children for the time being. The kids themselves are growing up – Iseq and Qila are showing curiosity about the world outside their community, about the mysteries of humans and the world in general. More concerning, at least, for Mathias is that with the onslaught of adolescence they seem to have developed werewolf-like tendencies. They may or may not have full-blown lycanthropy but it seems like they will take after their father after all.Whilst there might not be any more babies for Mr and Mrs Østergård-Sigurdsen, their pet Amorak hounds have gotten more than a little friendly and it was a shock to nobody when Brynhild starting showing signs of being pregnant. About a month ago she gave birth to three puppies, two girls and a boy. Ingolf and Brynhild have shown themselves to be excellent parents and have tolerated the children’s excitement about puppies with good grace. Now the pups are getting older, they have to decide what to do with them. They don’t want to split them up, so they decided to give Qila and Iseq a puppy each for their birthday – they hope this will help them through this difficult time and teach them some responsibility – and keep the third pup as a family dog.Puppy one is Iseq’s dog and the smallest girl. Iseq dreams of the world beyond their little community in Iceland, and would like her puppy to have an ‘exotic’ name – one that isn’t Danish, Scandinavian, or Greenlandic but is still easy for her to say. She would like it to begin with ‘I’ or ‘B’.
Puppy two is Qila’s, and she has the little boy puppy. Qila likes to be a bit different to her twin, and so would like her puppy to have a short, sweet, nickname-like (or just a nickname in its own right) Greenlandic name. It shouldn’t begin with ‘I’ or ‘B’. It doesn’t need to be very macho sounding, and it can be a unisex name.

http://www.behindthename.com/submit/names/usage/greenlandicPuppy three is the family dog, and the other girl puppy. Since her parents have very Nordic sounding names, Kaneq and Mathias have decided to continue that trend. However, since the other children are jealous of the older twins and their puppies, they have decided to let the children have the final say. For this reason, puppy 3 has a fairly simple Nordic/Scandinavian name which still fits with Ingolf and Brynhild and also a cutesy nickname.
~~The Morgan family
DW: Mélissaire Vivienne Morgan (nee Tolbert) [45] [Witch]
DH: Zebulon Benedict Morgan “Zeb” [45] [Witch]DD: Zéolie Carmelite Morgan [21] [Witch]
~Bf: [23] [Skin-walker]
DD: Athénaïse Lavender Morgan [14] [Witch] {glassmidnight}
DS: Nicodème Zephyr Morgan "Nico" [11] [Witch] {Julia}
DD: Éléontine Winter Morgan [9] [Witch] {glassmidnight}
DS: Émilien Zaccheus Morgan "Milo" [8] [Witch] {Kaesy}
DD/DS: Melusine Ysabeau Xanthippe Morgan / Expeditus Zenobios Amis Morgan "Dito" [5] [Witch] {Polyxena/glassmidnight}
DD: [nb] [Witch]Cat: Esmerelda "Esme"{Polyxena}Although the Morgans thought they were done with having kids after Melusine and Dito, they were mistaken… they’ve had a ‘“whoopsie” baby’. In fact, they were both shocked and a bit concerned and apprehensive about having another child, but the little girl was born with few complications (apart from being a few weeks early) and perfectly healthy.Since they used up their guilty-pleasure names on the twins, they don’t quite know what to name this new arrival. To complicate the problem, Zeb doesn’t like any of the Creole names Mélissaire suggests, and she’s not crazy about them either – they’ve exhausted that namebank. It’s time for a change in direction.
This unexpected daughter’s name should be French, not in the most recent top 200 in France or top 1000 in America (2010 and 2014 respectively on BtN), and have an uplifting meaning. Her middle name should be a botanical name – related to a tree, plant or flower in any way – which is not in the BtN main namebank (although user submitted names are okay).Meanwhile, Zéolie has grown up! A fairly proficient witch in her own right, she hopes to join a local covern to meet other magic users, and is eagerly awaiting the results of her application. Mélissaire, who has always found such things elitest, nonetheless wishes her daughter the best. She’d quite like her daughter to go to university, but Zéolie had other ideas. When she turned 19 she announced her desire to tour the US with a couple of witch friends, taking in the sights of both magical and non-magical America. Her parents were worried but didn’t want to destroy her dreams, so they let her go. They weren’t impressed when she brought a boyfriend back after her travels, but have since grown to know and like him.
He is of Native American origin, and a Skin-Walker. His first name is English and in the US top 100 for 1992. His middle name is Native American (you can decide what language/tribe) and his surname is either a Native American surname (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Native_American_surnames, for a small example, or a surname in an Amerindian language. Wikipedia/google may help with this and maybe the middle name) or, failing that, a very rare English surname.
~~The Tsekhanovetsky family
DH: Dmitriy L’vovich Tsekhanovetsky “Dima” [47] [Necromancer]
ExDW: Orphne Tsekhanovetskaya [46] [Lampad]DS: Leonid Phrixus Dmitriyevich Tsekhanovetsky "Leo" [14] [Lampad/Necromancer] {Polyxena}
DD: Kseniya Lethe Dmitriyevna Tsekhanovetskaya [11] [Lampad/Necromancer] {glassmidnight}Crow: Muninn {Fingaernith} Gf: Aisha Farida El-Ammin [37] [Djinni] {knitastick}
Gf’sDS: Zaid Clarence Goldhawk El-Ammin [17] [Djinni/Human] {glassmidnight}DD: [4] [Djinni/Necromancer]
DD: [nb] [Djinni/Necromancer]Dima and his new girlfriend Aisha have settled into a new home together with Leo and Kseniya and Munnin the crow. Zaid is just about to head off to university and very excited about it, although he promises to visit from time to time. He has grown fond of Leo and the younger boy wants to know all about university. And Orphne still figures in her children’s lives, having warmed to them as they grew up. She hasn’t warmed to Aisha, yet, but remains cordial with Dima. Aisha and Dima have had two daughters in the past five years – their eldest is four and idolises Kseniya, their youngest has just been born. Both daughters have Arabic first names which would sound good to an English ear and end in –a or –ah. They have Russian middle names which wouldn’t sound too exotic in English but aren’t ultra-common in Russian, and their second middle names are Dmitriyevna. Their surname is Tsekhanovetskaya El-Ammin.
