Quinlan grew up in an Adventist family where being queer was considered sinful and "contrary to the will of God". It was not an easy environment to grow up and if it wasn’t for her aunt Maisie (the black sheep of the family as she lived alone in the big city) Quinlan doesn’t know how she would have survived her youth. At least at aunt Maisie’s could she be herself and be accepted for who she is. It was therefor a breath of fresh air to meet Li’s Swedish family who accepted Li for who she is. Even Li’s grandparents where stoked when Quinlan and Li announced that they are getting married.
