German is the first foreign language she engaged in: learning it from her first year in school to her last year in high school. Yet, aged ten she became pen pals with a girl from South Korea (as part of a program her parents signed her up to) and soon admired the language. Studying Korean at University she went on to spend seven years in South Korea (where she happened to meet Chen on a trip back to his home country). After a year's long distant relationship Mirabelle moved back to America where they got married three years ago.
