River is usable for a girl, totally. People will tell you it's not because they prefer it for boys and have only seen it on boys. But really ... it's not like using Otis on a girl, or even like using Ryan on a girl. It's not "definitely girl" either ... it's as unisex as Jordan or Taylor ... or (I hate admitting) Rowan, which I personally VASTLY prefer on boys and hate to see on girls. I prefer River for boys but I think it works fine on a girl.

I don't think River and Ramona go together as twins. Ramona sounds self-consciously retro, like Betty. River sounds self-consciously 2000s. I like both names plenty well, but if I were born today as Ramona with twin sister River, I'd feel I had gotten the less hip, riskier, less youthful sounding name. River and Freya, River and Autumn, River and Lyra would seem better matched to me.
