Although Virgin Mary is commonly considered to be a purely Christian saint, Muslims also revere her (as the mother of one of the minor prophets). So, the Muslim Maria was named after the same saint as any Christian Maria.
Btw, to make that more complicated, Mary is of Hebrew/Egyptian origin
